Position classification

Hybrid -- Job duties and expectations allow for onsite and remote work scheduled every week. Employees in this classification are regularly scheduled onsite one (1) to four (4) days per week based on the County needs and as determined by Department Director. Hybrid classified roles can be onsite more than the set minimum based on employee preference.

What Success Looks Like In This Job

The Kinship Coordinator will serve as a support and resource to the caseworkers and case aides on the kinship team. They will ensure new family assignments are completed timely, and demographic information is entered in primary databases. The coordinator position will serve as a liaison with the prevention teams to staff and refer community kinship families to ensure they are connected with resources and support. They will assist with development and ongoing facilitation of kinship orientation, kinship training and/or other kinship support opportunities.

The successful candidate will assist the Kinship Support Supervisors with data tracking and the creation of monthly assignment/workload reports. The coordinator will also assist the Kinship Supervisors regarding the oversight of the case aide referrals and background checks. The kinship coordinator will also partner with the lead caseworkers regarding community kinship events, partnerships, and educational opportunities.

Examples of Duties for Success

Primary Duties for Success:

  • Provide support to kinship families that supports the work of Kinship Caseworkers.

  • Work closely with kinship program leadership to assist with all tasks necessary to implement kinship program support services for both uncertified and certified kinship families.

  • Serve as liaison for the Promoting Safe and Stable Families (PSSF) grant programs, contracted service providers for kinship and adoptive family services, and other PSSF programming.

  • Serve as a liaison for onboarding Binti web-based portal.

  • Assist with implementation and adherence to Kin Kinnected program, including attendance at Benefit Navigator meetings, county implementation workgroups, and Kinship Alliance meetings.

  • Serve as a liaison with the foster care teams regarding practice standards, training, and support for certified kinship families.

Other Duties for Success:

  • Assist and/or provide support to Intake, Ongoing, and Permanency Caseworkers with navigating our kinship referral process to ensure that all requirements are met for kinship placement (MANGO kinship referrals, initial background check compliance, completion of kinship placement packets, obtaining identifying information of kinship placement so that the Kinship Caseworker can make initial contact with kinship families.

  • Provide documentation in Trails/Mango of all contacts and/or efforts made with kinship families.

  • Open and update Trails provider numbers and services.

  • Serve as a liaison between our agency and PSSF contract service providers.

  • Assist with entire referral process for families, coordinate fingerprints for families with state approved vendors, and ensure all requirements are met per Volume VII regarding kinship placement.

  • Provide coverage, when possible, for case aides regarding emergency background check requests and complete thorough background checks as needed.

  • Participate in staff meetings held to review the safety and stability of kinship placements.

  • Scribe for Red Team.

  • Complete Accurint checks when requests are made.

  • Manage agency access to the DMV for history checks.

  • Coordinate and facilitate weekly check in meetings with the Kinship Team Case Aides.

  • Assist the PSSF Program Coordinator with the grant programs' implementation, as needed, to ensure effective program delivery and compliance with grant expectations (as determined by PSSF Program Coordinator).

  • Coordination of all kinship family home evaluation requests and completion of all necessary required steps and tasks (SSPA, SAFE, ICPC, etc.)

  • Assist kinship team leadership with implementation of kinship orientation and other support related tasks, services or programs that support our kinship families

  • Make purchases as needed and requested for kinship families and coordinate timely purchases that need to be completed by other team members

  • Create, maintain, organize and continuously update all spreadsheets and other data collection processes to assist with program implementation, purchasing, budgets, etc.

  • Knowledge of community resources in order to provide families with referrals as needed. Ability to do ongoing research to locate additional resources in the community as needed.

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to organize and manage time effectively.

  • Interact professionally, respectfully, and diplomatically at all times with agency staff, professionals and all outside organizations/programs/agencies.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience in human services.

  • Familiarity with and knowledge of State regulations as they pertain to child welfare and child protection as well as the Colorado Children's Code, State Department of Social Services Manual-Volume VII, Agency Policies and Procedures and Agency/County/State letters, County Policy, etc.

Education and Training:High school diploma or GED equivalent. Some college coursework completed and/or degree preferred.

License or Certificate: Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License.

Background Check:Must pass a criminal background check.

  • Willingness to work extended hours prior to and/or after typical work hours of Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to meet the needs of children and families

  • Must utilize a personal vehicle to get to many appointments in the Adams County community and surrounding areas within Colorado.
