ABOUT THE ROLE:

The role of Sourcing & Trading Manager is to be responsible for controlling and overseeing all beans, butter, liquor and powder purchases; Cocoa Beans pricing and position management; Being responsible for the overall market support of the key and regional accounts in the country cluster. The position should oversee a company's business operations, liaise with stakeholders, drive strategic company growth, and be responsible for the overall performance of the Cocoa & Choco Trading.

The responsibility includes developing and implementing strategic plans and company policies, maintaining an open dialogue with stakeholders, and driving organizational success, acting as an exceptional leader, who drives the company's strategic visions, and is adept at crisis management.

Their duties include maintaining frequent communications with the regional president and also with the company Executives, reviewing operational data and financial statements to track the progress of business initiatives, hiring, and supporting Department Directors to guide company employees in the various areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Trader will be responsible for all commercial activities of her/his allocated region or specific part of trading the cocoa beans, buying and selling. Therefore the trader should be aware of the business issues or opportunities which are presented to the trading team by our in-house suppliers and 3rd party suppliers as well

  • In this role the trader is the link to the intercompany and 3rd suppliers; Trader should at all-time know which suppliers has what on offer and what are the prices. She/he will have to be able to move quickly and have instant understand of a newly arisen situation.

  • Together with the Cocoa Managing Director a buying plan is created for your region and for each season on a lot of different drivers. This plan will need to be executed and where needed adjusted. This is a constant checking of the situation.

  • The role has as well the link with the colleagues in the origin countries. Together with the local sourcing the buying plan needs to be executed, contact with the suppliers need to be maintained, claims must be handled, and a smooth logistics needs to be implemented.

  • The role is a team efforts as described, the team tasks need to be executed, and the team profit targets need to be achieved but as a team. It is all around working as a team. Manage with the trading team next to EBIT also other KPI’s lie stock targets.

  • In this role you will also be buying to the Factories and you need to make sure they have the products (beans, liquor, butter, powder, cake) at the right time. Work very close with the logistics team and handle the shipping and storage issues.

  • Hedging futures positions against physicals sales and / or purchases.

  • Managing trading book position (Combined ratio / Long & Short Butter - powder).

  • Profitability analysis and trading execution on imported VS Local Cocoa products supply such as Butter, Liquor, Powder and Cake for the business.

  • Responsible for Trading and Managing imported cocoa beans position.

  • Analyzing the Cocoa Market futures structure position.

  • To discuss & align regularly the Global Cocoa view on futures market.

  • To attend and execute Global cocoa combined ratio strategy.

  • Supporting Sales team on all customer requests related to the Cocoa market.

  • Responsible for the procurement activities of Cocoa raw materials for Chocolate & Cocoa Business – Supply of Brazil Ilhéus, Itabuna, Extema and Paine factories.

  • Full connection with Demand planning area in the Chocolate units ( Extrema and Paine ) to guarantee process of supplying Cocoa products aligned with Business Strategy.

  • Weekly review of Chocolate demand to guarantee correct Cocoa raw material forecast and Factories supply.

  • Liaising, contracting and coordination with intercompany & 3rd party suppliers.

  • Purchase Cocoa Contract Management, and intercompany reconciliation with Cocoa commercial team.

  • Define purchase strategies and ability to generate savings.

  • Manage sourcing cost effectiveness towards the Chocolate BU related to Cocoa components and liaise with Risk Management based in Chicago to drive profitability up.

  • Negotiate frame agreements and purchasing conditions.

  • Act as business partner helping to define & update raw material pricing, commercial support on raw material market analysis, and supporting R&D development work.

  • Participate in monthly meetings communicating Cocoa commodity markets and results to Local Management Team.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Degree or work experience in Business Administration, Marketing or similar.

  • Master's degree is mandatory.

  • Fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish are mandatory.

  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic and business plans.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

  • Good understanding of corporate law and customer oriented mindset.

  • 7-10 years of experience in agricultural commodities markets, trading, hedging operations, international trade.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • 10+ years procurement & trading experience in high level leadership positions.

  • Strong leadership.

  • Experience with market research, commodities trading and procurement strategy.

  • Knowledge of agricultural global markets.

  • Ability with futures market, product portfolio management and innovation.

  • Experience managing or working with financial reports and data.

  • Innovative and creative, ability to engage others regarding new ideas and projects.

  • Ability to manage projects.

  • Availability for trips outside the state of São Paulo.
