Amazon Integration and Test Technician III, Project Kuiper in Redmond, Washington

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. We are seeking talented Integration Technicians to lead development and production integration and test activities of the Kuiper satellite.

Key job responsibilities

  • Functional and environmental testing, repair and troubleshooting of Kuiper phased array antenna PCBA's

  • Integration of the Kuiper satellite and various complex subassemblies in a cleanroom and ESD controlled environment

  • Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, multimeters, optical inspection devices, micrometers and calipers

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation

  • Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions

  • Use computer software programs for controlling tests

  • Check and inspect your work after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawing and work instruction requirements

  • Collaborate with manufacturing and test engineers to develop and document activities, including continuous improvement opportunities

  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, safe and effective work environment

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Candidates must be 18 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines.

A day in the life

The Integration and Test Technician III will work closely with cross-functional engineering, test, quality and operations teams on both first-article hardware development and production hardware integration processes. This role mainly focuses on testing Kuiper Phased Array Antenna PCBA's in a production environment. This position requires skill and experience in a variety of areas, including mechanical assembly, avionics integration, electrical checkouts and environmental testing. In short, you will be responsible for a majority of the most critical tasks to build the Kuiper satellite, ensuring high quality, workmanship and safety standards are adhered to on a daily basis.

Redmond, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of experience in electrical hardware assembly, test, and/or installation, preferably PCBA testing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the aerospace industry, automotive industry, medical device industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environment

  • Experience in a fast-paced production environment

  • Experience programming and/or reading code, specifically Secure Shell (SSH)

  • Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and clean room requirements

  • Experience with forklifts, cranes and heavy equipment (including previous certifications)

  • A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures

  • Some basic knowledge of electrical, optical and mechanical systems, antennas, functional testing and/or satellite components

  • Ability to use multiple types of precision measuring instruments

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment

  • Experience with Linux environment

  • Experience with manually testing PCBA

  • Large and heavy PCBA handling

Additional Requirements

  • Willing to work all shifts, overtime and weekends as needed. Estimated shift times: 1st shift (7 am – 3:30 pm) 2nd shift 2:30 pm-11 pm. Shifts may vary, depending on program needs.

  • Able to stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive assembly operations

  • Able to climb and down ladders, work in tight spaces, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position.

  • Able to lift at least 25 lbs. unassisted

  • Must be willing to travel up to 5% to different sites and for training

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $76,960/year in our lowest geographic market up to $83,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
