Manufacturing Engineers develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods. They provide premier engineering and manufacturing support expertise to enable on-time, lowest cost hardware delivery with performance and reliability that exceed customer expectations. They execute across all phases of a program including proposal capture, process development, transition to production, and production support.
Manufacturing Engineers design, control, and improve the manufacturing process and system design through a collaborative effort with the value stream team. You would apply your skills to implement improvements that reduce cycle time and cost and improve productivity, while maintaining a high level of safety in the manufacturing environment and quality within the product.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Developing, maintaining, and reviewing Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs) including assembly instructions, workflow/routing, labor standards, tool and fixture designs
Supporting a manufacturing area as part of cross-functional team by guiding the production team through process troubleshooting and incorporation of engineering changes into the MDP
Dispositioning non-conforming material with root cause and corrective action analysis as required
Driving Continuous Improvement through process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk to assemblers, automate, reduce costs (both direct and indirect) using CORE principles and data driven decision making
Providing real-time technical support to manufacturers and fabricators; in-house as well as the supply base.
Leading corrective action investigations to prevent recurrence
Some travel may be required for this position
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s and a minimum of 2+ years prior relevant experience, or an Advance Degree.
2+ years Experience working in a manufacturing environment (can be through internships, coop work)
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Value:
Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Word, etc…)
Proven written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
Self-motivated and results oriented individual with an a bility to work in a team environment and with minimal direct supervision
Excellent organizational skills with fine attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Knowledge and ability to apply S ix Sigma and/or DFMA principles and techniques
Technical drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Proficiency with CAD solid modeling tools (preference for CREO/ProE) and/or simulation tools
Experience with designing, programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated tooling and machinery
Experience in Transducer and Sensor assembly (mechanical assembly/bonding/potting/molding)
Development of Specialized Tooling (Jigs, Fixtures, Packaging) experience
Experience with military and industry standards
Experience in developing manufacturing processes for undersea products
Experience in developing work cell layouts
Conducting safety/ergonomic assessments
Experience with MRL and TRL (Manufacturing Readiness Level and Technology Readiness Level) Assessments
Solid understanding of configuration management practices
Experience with cable and harness fabrication, including crimping requirements
Experience with electromechanical integration of piece parts and subassemblies, including a knowledge of cable and harness routing techniques
Master's degree preferred
Active DoD security clearance

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
