THE POSITION

If you love working in the great outdoors and are seeking an exciting opportunity, your search is over! The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is in need of a Semi Skilled Laborer to join the team at the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation. Your role will involve assisting the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation in the operation and maintenance of active and passive acid mine drainage treatment facilities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will assist the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation in the operation and maintenance of active and passive acid mine drainage treatment facilities to help abate and control acid mine drainage affecting the Blacklick Creek, Pine Creek, and Clearfield Creek watersheds. You will perform the necessary labor and operate a variety of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment for a wide range of abandoned mine land reclamation projects. In addition, you will repair and maintain motors, mixers and pumps, and other related equipment involved in the processing of acid mine drainage. Some of your duties will require the use of tools, such as electric drills, power saws, chainsaws, and multi-purpose saws. Your role will involve entering the required data in a specified format to meet the data quality standards established by DEP. This includes ensuring that the entries are accurate and complete, and using system-specific tools to minimize duplicate entries and data quality problems.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment

• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

• Salary: Most selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $ 34,621.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or

• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  Condition of Employment:

• This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
