[This position requires 100% travel and significant time away from home. You must be at least 21 years of age and be able to pass a respirator fit test.

[Job Overview: The Safety Technician is regarded as an H2S authority, safety supervisor, and additional eyes and ears for client supervisors during oilfield operations. A Safety Technician must have strong operational knowledge to identify and communicate potential hazards and must be aware of all activities occurring on their site. Safety Technicians must be strong communicators and able to command attention to prevent or stop unsafe acts. Follows safe operating practices in accordance with Environment, Safety and Regulatory requirements.

Safely operates and maintains H2S detection and breathing air safety equipment.

Performs system checks to ensure proper operation and calibration of equipment - documents and reports deficiencies and recommended corrective actions to supervisors.

Provides continuous monitoring in areas with possible hazardous atmospheres.

Writes a complete and accurate job safety analysis every shift and informs workers of changes in hazards.

Maintains an accurate site roster and head count.

Conducts a daily safety meeting with all personnel onsite to include discussion of emergency action plan and relevant identified hazards.

Controls access to sites and performs safety briefs for ALL visitors of the site.

Verifies certification and current training for all workers and visitors on site.

Assists qualified site personnel with donning/doffing safety breathing equipment.

Reports ALL injuries immediately, no matter how minor, that occur.

Coordinates with onsite operations supervisor on all observed safety issues and makes corrective action recommendations.
