ProMedica Health System Supervisor - Sterile Processing - Full Time - Days in Monroe, Michigan

Coordinates and monitors for high quality outcomes of the reprocessing and sterilization of surgical instruments. Provides staff support through facilitation, coaching, and role-modeling leadership behaviors which enhance quality patient care, excellent customer service, and fosters employee development.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise

  1. Plans with the manage/director to facilitate unit organization within established policies and procedures, standards of care, age related competencies, budgetary parameters and long-range objectives.

  2. Coordinates activities within the service area of sterile processing, fostering departmental standards of care, policies and procedures and age-related competencies.

  3. Serves as a resource person and demonstrates clinical expertise, in Sterile Processing. Maintains mastery of age-related competencies.

  4. Promotes an environment within the unit conducive to psychological and physical safety.

  5. Manages staff assignments based on level of instrumentation specialties and needs of department and staff.

  6. Coordinates daily activities of the unit with all team members to ensure that all surgeries are accomplished efficiently, timely, with expected patient outcomes for instrument preparation.

  7. Develops and ensures standards are maintained for instruments and specialty trays. Collaborates with management to identify cost reduction opportunities.

  8. Supports mission, goals and objectives of surgical services; supports, assists and communicates such to departmental supervisors and service coordinators.

  9. Serves through instrument needs the following age populations: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

  10. Other duties as assigned. Education: High School graduation or equivalent

Skills: Must have excellent customer service skills, ability to prioritize tasks and relay those priorities to staff.

Years of Experience: At least one-year sterile processing or operating room experience

Certification: Current certification as CRCST, CBSPDT or CST.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Skills: Previous leadership experience. Knowledge of computer systems including basic computer knowledge, MS Office and inventory management systems.

Years of Experience: 2 years or more sterile processing or operating room experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Personal Protective Equipment: Must be able to tolerate PPE for extended hours.

Physical Demands: Must be able to frequently move, lift or carry light to medium heavy to heavy weight objects and materials. Must be able to tolerate long periods of standing.
