Robert Half Accounting Supervisor/Manager in Midland, Texas

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Lead Bookkeeper/Accounting Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to lead a team of bookkeepers effectively. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's accounting processes, including supervising bookkeepers, assisting CPAs with financial reporting, managing liabilities, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accurate journal entries.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of bookkeepers, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.

  • Collaborate with CPAs to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Manage all aspects of the company's accounting processes, including but not limited to, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.

  • Perform regular reconciliations of accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.

  • Prepare and post journal entries accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Monitor and manage company liabilities, including but not limited to, taxes, loans, and vendor payments.

  • Develop and implement efficient accounting procedures and internal controls to streamline processes and minimize errors.

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.

  • Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and standards, and ensure compliance within the organization.

  • Handle any ad-hoc accounting tasks and projects as assigned by management.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred, not required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and other relevant accounting software.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial reporting requirements.

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

  • Proven leadership abilities with a track record of successfully managing a team.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
