POSITION SUMMARY

Participate in planning, maintenance, installation and repair of the Electrical System and Equipment.

The primary responsibilities of the role include:

  • Participate in deep cleaning, maintenance, and repairing of all the Electrical System and Equipments in the hotel.

  • Guest calls are responded in a standard manner.

  • Generator operation and maintenance.

  • Monitor and supervise the work of contractors performing services on utility projects.

  • Assist in development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs for mechanical equipment and facilities.

  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with blueprints, specifications, and instructions.

  • Successfully develop and implement short-term and small-scale projects.

  • Ensure M.S.D.S. is properly maintained.

  • Ensure that all work performs to the Ritz-Carlton standards.

Communication

  • Ensure that all pertinent information is provided to concern departments, guests and colleagues.

  • Ensure that all communication with departments, guests and colleagues is complete, accurate, engaging and positive.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all guest information.

  • Attend daily line-ups and communicate all challenges and successes with the rest of the team.

  • Promptly, accurately and consistently report all maintenance program and how they were carried out.

  • Attend designated meetings.

  • Act as the point of contact for other departments during the shift for all Engineering related issues.

  • Ensure and emphasize prompt solutions and reporting of any maintenance/repairing during the shift. Ensure that the challenge is escalated to Manager if need be and ensure that all such incidents are discussed in the next line-up and in departmental meeting.

Other

  • Replace and maintain lighting fixtures according to manufacturers’ specifications.

  • Check timers monthly to ensure they are set to meet needs according to seasonal change.

  • Visual inspections of hotel lighting daily.

  • Ensure lighting for each area is not only appealing, but also functional and in good working condition.

  • Monthly check of all emergency lighting fixtures for proper operation.

  • All electrical installations must be completed using National Electrical Code Standards.

  • Director of Engineering must approve all lighting additions and fixtures.

  • Thermals reading on all electrical supply equipment conducted annually.

  • Make all necessary repairs provided by thermal reading report.

  • Ensure tag and lock-out procedures are followed when working on electrically powered equipment.

  • Ensure electrical room is at proper temperature needed for efficient operation of sensitive equipment.

  • Review banquet event orders prior to group arrival to recognize opportunities.

  • Install temporary power requirements according to guest’s specifications if required for any events and conferences.

  • Temporary power supply before outside vendor arrives.

  • Ensure vendors work within parameters of hotel operations.

  • Communicate procedures and limitations of hotel’s electrical facilities to appropriate parties.

  • Test all temporary power for proper operation.

  • Speak with vendor upon arrival to verify power needs.

  • Monitor daily throughout function.

  • Maintain files on all electrical equipment.

  • Ensure equipment manuals and warranties are available.

  • Maintain files of past purchase requisitions.

  • Maintain a list of all manufacturers, models and serial numbers.

  • Conduct weekly inventory of spare parts.

  • Order on as-needed basis to ensure parts arrive before you run out of stock.

  • Ensure all spare parts are labeled properly and stored in an orderly fashion.

  • Follow proper purchase order procedures.

  • Maintain a current list of all vendor names and phone numbers.

  • Prioritize future work to ensure material is on hand when needed.

  • Prioritize weekly workload to correspond to Servidyne assignment.

  • Maintain communication with Engineering Management on work order and Servidyne status.

  • Replace and maintain lighting fixtures according to manufacturers’ specifications.

  • Maintain and repair all guest room and public area in accordance with the C.A.R.E. procedures and standards guidelines.

  • Document all work performed on a room inspection sheet, work orders.

  • Prepare and maintain daily and quarterly logs of all the work completed.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly workshop, storage area and cart containing all necessary tools, parts and materials.

  • Offer lateral service to internal /external customer when available.

  • Maintain safe conditions in work area and other associated areas.

  • Inform Supervisor, Engineering Manager, and/or Asst. Director of Engineering of daily work progress.

  • To keep all equipment in good repair with a minimum of downtime by providing day to day maintenance of the hotel under the direction of Engineering Management.

  • To continually support and improve engineering services that effectively address problems affecting both guests and employees.

  • To train and instruct other members of the staff by passing along your knowledge and skills. In addition, utilizing resources from the Engineering Training Library and of outside vendors and sources. Assist them in their development and further advance your own. Participate in Corporate and Property Training as directed by Engineering Management.

  • To be an independent mechanic, able to analyze problems and to formulate plans to get work done quickly including procurement of materials, parts, etc., and necessary scheduling arrangements with a high degree of quality.

  • Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules (i.e., Lockout Tagout, JSAs), safety awareness information (such as MSDS) operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, keep logs, and correspondences. Ability to speak effectively with customers and with other Ladies and Gentlemen.

  • The Ritz-Carlton Hotel functions 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. All staff must realize this fact and be aware that at times it may be necessary to move employees from their accustomed shifts as business demands. In addition, it is understood that business determines the number of hours that are worked, and that some weeks may be scheduled at less than 48 hours, and other weeks at more than 48 hours.

Experience

  • Must have minimum of 2 years of experience with The Ritz-Carlton or another hotel company in the Engineering Department.

Education

  • Engineering Diploma/Certificate in any engineering field or equivalent required.
