Job Description

Day to Day:

The Sr. Staff Scientist will be responsible for conducting performance and quality testing to approve/license new products and renew existing products. They will evaluate new additives, base oils and other raw materials for performance and quality. They will create and submit necessary documentation for API, ACEA, GM dexos and additional OEM approvals. They will generate product claims data via lab, bench, engine or field testing. They will be the primary technical point of contact for this organization's blending plants, providing day-to-day production support and managing the introduction of new products, including new recipes and quality specifications.

Skills and Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering etc.

· 3-5 years of experience as a scientist/formulator working in the manufacturing or commercialization industry (ex: additives, oils, adhesives, paint, food/beverage/ cosmetics etc.)

· Familiarity with Engine/Transmission hardware, operation and design

· Experience with analytical test methods and laboratory methods

· Computer Skills - specifically Excel, Power Point, SAP and QC software Plusses:

· Knowledge of API regulations and practices (American Petroleum Institute)

· Masters or PhD preferred

· Experience formulating finished lubricants, either for an oil marketer, additive supplier or base oil manufacturer null
