*Valvoline Global Operations Headquarters is located in Lexington, KY. We are open to candidates working in a remote capacity in other states, but willing to visit HQs as needed.

How You’ll Make an Impact
The Learning & Development Architect will be responsible for managing and maintaining VGO’s global, customer-facing, online training content, which primarily includes program design, creation/maintenance management, tailoring, and translation. In addition, the L&D Architect will be responsible for implementing an LCMS as well as establish processes, conventions, and governance model(s). Position will serve as a liaison between end users, internal and external clients, Learning Technologists, and L&D Regional Training Leads/Teams.
In the role, you would be responsible for:
Content Development: Oversees the creation/maintenance/tailoring/translation of engaging and effective training content, considering various learning formats, methodologies, and audiences (through use of internal development tools or external vendors); fosters a culture of innovation and creativity in content development and delivery.
Strategic Program/Curriculum Design: Develops and implements comprehensive learning strategies aligned with organizational goals as well as execute plans effectively to achieve strategic objectives; designs curriculum frameworks for a structured and progressive approach to employee development needs; creates content efficiencies where possible (sharing of content regionally or developing processes to tailor regional content)
Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS): Evaluates, selects, and implements LCMS to organize, store, and manage training materials efficiently; stays updated on emerging technologies and integrate them into the learning environment; develops governance policies for broader training team re: LCMS (as well as processes/naming conventions for storage).
Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborates effectively with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and team members; influences key decision-makers to support and invest in learning initiatives.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Establishes metrics to gauge the success of training programs (ROI); implements continuous improvement measures based on evaluation outcomes.
Budget Management: Manages the budget for learning and development initiatives, ensuring cost-effective solutions; demonstrates financial acumen in balancing budget constraints with effective learning solutions.
What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in applicable fields of study, such as Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Training/Education, Technical Writing (or a related field).
Minimum 10 years of experience in instructional design, online development/graphic tools, and LMS/LXP Administration required
Strong knowledge of adult learning/instructional design theory and models (i.e., ADDIE Model, Design Thinking, Kirkpatrick Model, Bloom’s Taxonomy, etc.), , learning styles, and performance improvement models
Usability/user interface (human-centered design) experience
Decision Making and Judgment: Solid analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and fact-based decision-making abilities
Results Orientation: Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple, complex projects with tight timeframes in a matrixed environment
Knowledge of user roles/privileges, common problems, functional implementations, maintenance, and reporting/visualizations
Knowledge of eLearning standards, including Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM), AICC, and xAPI
Strategic Thinking and Execution / Innovation and Creativity: Strong technical skills and ability to troubleshoot issues as well as conceptualize and fulfill creative solutions
Collaboration and Influence: Ability to influence peers and leaders when presenting solutions and recommendations
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and communication skills.
Change & communication experience
Comfortable interfacing w/ global customers where English is not native language.
Learning Agility: Ability to learn new information and processes quickly
Strong customer orientation
Financial Acumen
Expert in use of Microsoft Office Suite PowerPoint, Word, Excel
Experience with remote training using asynchronous meeting tools such as NetMeeting, Webex, or LiveMeeting.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
What Will Set You Apart
3+ years instructional design experience
3+ years eLearning authoring tools (i.e., Articulate Storyline/RISE, Adobe Captivate, etc.); multimedia tools (i.e., Audacity, Camtasia, Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
3+ years LMS/LXP Administration
3+ years using data to evaluate learning solutions and making improvement recommendations
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
