Process Board Operator:
Responsible to operate field process equipment and carry out field based activities, Responsible to coordinate with Board operator ensures compliance with QHSE policies and PTW procedures during maintenance activities and make sure at all times that safety rules and regulations are adhered to.
Performing duties on 14/14 rotation and on 12 hours duty relieving basis
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible of effective, comprehensive charge handing over and take over from his successor.
Perform all work activities as per procedures and policies in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner.
Recognize environmental and safety hazards and communicate these to Board operator/Lead
Responsible to know the locations of all Emergency Shutdown switches, fire & gas detectors and field instrumentations.
Execute good troubleshooting skills during plant’s upset, shutdowns and startup in co-ordination with board operator
Monitor and maintain chemical rates and communicate any problems to Board operator
Ensure all housekeeping issues are taken care of immediately.
Check/record all locks and seals as required. Compliance with Log out Tag out procedure
Responsible to know and identify all isolation hazards, and compliance with isolation procedure.
Monitor feed gas, LPG and NGL production. Storage tanks levels, chemical stocks
Gather data for production reports.
Responsible to operate and Perform smooth safe changeover of product run-down valves, loading valves, pressure equalizing and padding/de-padding valves line-up, pump change over, isolations and loop de-pressurization in co-ordination with Board operator
Follow the weekly equipment testing schedule.
Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team. Plan and participate in emergency response drills and training. Carry out emergency response duties, as required.
Give final permission to execute maintenance job by ensuring completion of all job related requirements specified in PTW as per procedures.
Must be a safety leader and maintain oversight of all activities.
Must participate in LPT observation card and Hazard Hunting.
Perform safe gas sampling, moisture analysis by dragger tube as required
Prepares equipment safely for maintenance and put back in service when job completed, as per procedure.
Carries out gas test prior to execution of work permits to ensure existence of safe conditions.
Ensures strict adherence to safety procedures maintenance staff and contractors.
Maintain daily process variables log sheet and Prepares daily activity reports, bringing to attention of Board operator any abnormalities detected, maintain all process printouts, reports, PTW copies.
REQUIRED SKILLS OR TOOLS
Must be able to read & understand process drawings, P&IDs, Datasheets, MSDS.
Must have knowledge and understanding about process parameters, engineering units, Area Pressure, Volume, Temperature, density, elementary chemistry & Physics
Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of hydrocarbons processing equipment, including gas compressors, Engines, pumps, Expander, Direct fired heaters, Fractionation columns, cryogenic system, dryers, heating kettles; PLC based operating system, flare system, LPG & NGL storage tanks, etc in the LPG industry.
Demonstrated competence in emergency response and process optimization.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Able to coordinate activities affecting a safe and efficient operation of a plant in an often distracting and multitasking environment.
Good personal and interpersonal skills.
Understanding and working knowledge of the relevant disciplines within the Field Operations Team (like: Control Room, Production, Mechanical, Electrical, Instruments).
Site supervision and commissioning skills in the field including troubleshooting.
Ability to carry out personal training to improve knowledge and skills in areas where no formal training exists.
Able to monitor the status of all plant systems on a continuous basis, take necessary action to prevent equipment failures.
Assure plant meets all requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner.
Self-starter, able to work independently and solve problems with minimum supervision.
Able to make sound, quick decisions based on the facts of the situation and remain calm and in control in a possibly deteriorating environment.
Must be able to cope with the mental stress placed on him to meet the demands of the job. Much of the job is to troubleshoot to head off any problems that might interfere with the production process. Emergency handling
Perform firefighting; Pressurize fire hose handling, pushing, pulling, wrapping fire hoses, housekeeping of firefighting and emergency equipment.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must have passed Higher Secondary Certificate Examination or Diploma of Associate Engineer in a relevant discipline preferred and also Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering preferred
3 years’ experience in oil & gas plant operations with a minimum of 2 years in LPG gas plants
Field operator is authorized to take the shutdown of the individual unit or the plant in case of any serious problem or abnormality observed by pressing Local ESD switches.
Field operator is authorized to start the fire water pumps from outside in case of emergency.
Field operator is authorized to discontinue/Stop any job /maintenance and operational activity which are unsafe.
Extreme Hot & winter weather will provide extra challenges for logistics and plant operations.
The field work relies on very few people, as controls are essentially done from the control room; therefore it is essential that the person be fully autonomous.
Climbing on high towers, vessels, tanks using monkey ladders while loaded with PPEs, gas detectors, scape mask.
Handling heavy fire hose roles: pushing, pulling, wrapping winding lifting, holding, handling pressurized fire hose etc.
Working in day night shifts can face unrest fatigue.
Must be able to lift at least 50 Lbs.
