About the Role

As Privacy Counsel at Eightfold AI, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with privacy laws and regulations, protecting personal data, and maintaining the trust of our customers and the public in our products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement privacy policies, procedures, and controls, as well as provide strategic guidance on data protection matters.

The Privacy Manager will support key privacy initiatives and a variety of privacy projects for the privacy compliance program. This position is an individual contributor role and reports to the Head of Privacy and Product Counsel at Eightfold.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on European privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, and other leading global privacy laws, to support compliance across the organization

  • Monitor developments in privacy laws and regulations and provide recommendations on necessary actions or changes to ensure ongoing compliance

  • Support the negotiation of data processing agreements/addenda with customers and partners

  • Support vendor compliance risk assessments with respect to the handling of personal data

  • Develop, implement, and maintain privacy policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard personal data and mitigate privacy risks

  • Conduct privacy impact assessments and provide guidance on data protection impact assessments for new products, features, and initiatives

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed privacy-by-design principles into our products and services

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on privacy-related inquiries from internal stakeholders, customers, and partners

  • Handle and document data subject requests

  • Monitor and investigate privacy incidents and support the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records of privacy incidents

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of data inventories and data maps to document data flows between Eightfold and our customers, vendors, and other third parties

  • Develop and support privacy champions within the organization

  • Develop and maintaining privacy-related documentation

  • Utilize contract, documentation management, and other legal tech tools to provide and support legal operations in the department

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent from an accredited law school

  • Qualified lawyer licensed to practice law in the EU with a focus on privacy and data protection

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a privacy counsel, preferably as an in-house privacy counsel in the technology sector

  • Deep understanding of European privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, and experience implementing privacy programs and controls

  • Strong understanding of U.S. privacy laws (including CCPA) and other leading global privacy laws

  • Proven ability to analyze and present advice in a clear and cohesive manner and propose pragmatic solutions to business problems

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills in written and spoken English with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Proven track record of providing practical and strategic advice on complex privacy issues

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, prioritize competing demands, and drive projects to completion

  • Experience working with OneTrust, TrustArc or other tools used to facilitate data mapping, data inventories, data subject rights requests, and incident management preferred

  • Knowledge of emerging AI laws, including the proposed EU AI Act, preferred
