Equipment Mechanic IPerforms repair/maintenance and inspection related work for fleet vehicles and equipment in the Fleet Operations Division Shop or a District Maintenance Section. Work may require maintenance and repair of heavy equipment used in construction of highways/bridges and inspecting work performed by contracted vendors. Work may require contact with other governmental agencies and private contractors. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments, however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Equipment Mechanic IIPerforms advanced repair/maintenance and inspection related work for fleet vehicles and equipment in the Fleet Operations DivisionShop or a District Maintenance Section. Inspects work performed by shop mechanics and/or contracted vendors. Work may requiremaintenance and repair of heavy equipment used in the construction of highways/bridges. Work may require contact with othergovernmental agencies and private contractors. Employees at this level perform independently on assignments; however, all unusualissues are referred to the supervisor.Essential Duties:Equipment Mechanic IAdjusts brakes and replaces brake system parts to include air brake and anti-locking systems.Analyzes and interprets computerized diagnostic equipment information.Handles and disposes of environmentally hazardous materials in accordance with federal and state laws.Checks lighting and wiring mechanisms to ensure proper functioning of headlights, spotlights, tail lights and parkinglights.Completes repair order paperwork and accurately enters data into fleet information management system.Orders, picks up and delivers parts, materials, tools, and operates equipment and vehicles to include heavy equipment.Performs annual state safety inspections on vehicles to include DOT required inspections.Performs emergency spot repairs.Performs preventive maintenance, inspections and repairs on motor vehicles/equipment; as required moves items related to these activities.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Equipment Mechanic IIAdjusts brakes and replaces brake system parts to include air brake and anti-locking systems.Analyzes and interprets computerized diagnostic equipment information.Handles and disposes of environmentally hazardous materials in accordance with federal and state laws.Checks lighting and wiring mechanisms to ensure proper functioning of headlights, spotlights, tail lights and parking lights.Completes repair order paperwork and accurately enters data into fleet information management system.Reads and interprets schematics, diagrams and blueprints.Orders, picks up and delivers parts, materials, tools, and operates equipment and vehicles to include heavy equipment.Performs annual state safety inspections on vehicles to include DOT required inspections.Performs preventive maintenance, inspections and repairs on motor vehicles/equipment; as required moves items related to these activities.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
