Commander, Navy Installations PROTOCOL SPECIALIST in Bahrain Island, Bahrain

Summary You will serve as a PROTOCOL SPECIALIST in the NSA Bahrain, Department of Navy ofNAVSUPPACT BAHRAIN . The current workweek is Sunday through Thursday. Employees hired from continental U.S. will receive Sunday Premium Pay (computed at 25% of basic hourly rate, eight hours per week). Responsibilities You will advise officials on protocol and official representation funds (ORF) policy and instructions. You will collect, maintain, analyze, and provide data for planning and reporting purposes. You will coordinate travel management policy and administrative guidelines for processing travel actions. You will develop agendas and plans for an event in accordance with the focus of the event. You will coordinate administrative functions for file management, appointments, supplies, travel, or training. You will incorporate host and partner nations' customs and courtesies while maintaining U.S. military protocol standards. You will prepare and maintain procedures and guidelines for protocol accounting and control requirements. You will recommend process improvements to better meet customer needs. You will coordinate with other protocol officer in support of DV's visit that affect the normal work schedule. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Working with protocol policies and procedures when arranging itineraries and receiving visitors; 2) Planning and coordinating strategic engagements, events, ceremonies for an organization; 3) Providing administrative/clerical organization and logistical support for command and visitors; 4) Maintaining files on all official biographies for civilian and military dignitaries and 5) Applying procedures and protocols to ensure courtesies, greeting and services are proper when dealing with various US and foreign government representatives. In the event of a crisis situation of war, the incumbent must continue to perform assigned duties to support mission requirements until relieved by proper authority. In addition, this position requires Anthrax vaccinations. The Anthrax vaccination is a series of 6 shots occurring at 0, 2 and 4 weeks; then at 6, 12 and 18 months, followed by an annual booster as long as you remain in the position. We strongly recommend that you begin the Anthrax series before arriving in Bahrain and provide a shot card or other medical verification upon arrival. If this is not possible, you will be required to report to the Branch Health Clinic to receive these mandatory vaccinations within 15 days of arrival. The Branch Health Clinic will also provide subsequent Anthrax vaccinations (to complete the series) as well as annual boosters. You may be exempt from Anthrax requirements if you provide acceptable medical documentation which provides medical justification for exemption.
